Be Thankful For All You Have

Why Am I Thankful?  In this year with so much turmoil and the uncertain financial future I have a lot to be thankful for and a lot to look forward to.  
In Business I Am Thankful That:

I have remained true to my principles throughout the real estate boom and can thankfully say that I will earn as much this year as I did last year and the year before that.  

I have clients who appreciate my service enough to refer other people to me.

I have found a place on a team that allows me to do what I do best and gives me back up so I can go on vacation without worry about pending deals or unsatisfied clients.

My Broker is a community oriented individual who gives back so much and encourages us to do the same.
In My Personal Life I Am Thankful For:

My children who continue to do well and strive to be the best they can be.

My husband who works so hard to provide a stable income which allows me to relax a bit more during difficult moments in real estate.

My friends who give me joy and support through good times and bad.

My late parents and grandparents who were able to leave a bit behind so that I can invest in my family's future.
In Our World I Am Thankful For:

The young men and women who serve in our armed forces to protect and preserve our way of life.

All the people who think of others and give of their time to help those less fortunate.

The record number of people who took part in the recent Presidential election.  
You!

I encourage you all to take a few minutes and reflect on what you are thankful for this year.  Too many people focus on the negative and that draws bad things to them.  Make your Thanksgiving cup half full rather than half empty and you will see a better future.  I wish you all a wonderful holiday.  If no one has invited you to dinner with them then invite someone to spend this special time with you.  Don't sit around complaining about it do something to change it. You know there's still time.  Go ahead make some else's day!

"Twilight" the movie, is awesome!

I went to see "Twilight" last night at 10:45 PM. I don't think I ever went to a movie that late even in my wilder younger days.  The things you will do for your children.  Nicole performed in a talent show at school  last night, she did great BTW(I will post on that performance later), and has a party tonight. She just HAD to see Twilight this weekend, both my girls have been anticipating the release of the movie for months. Soooo I picked up tickets on Thursday for the late show and was glad that I had.  It was a sellout.  

The movie was really good.  It stayed true to the book except for a few minor variations.  For those who have not read this series yet you really should.  The books are the kind you can't put down and find yourself sneaking off to read when you should be doing something else. The story is a basically a teenage love story but the male lead character is a vampire which creates some interesting twists on the boy meets girl and they fall in love theme.

I would recommend this movie to all the ladies and think that many of you guys might like it too (even if you are only going because she is making you go).

I am getting a lot of questions from potential first time homebuyers regarding their chances to buy a house in today's uncertain market. It is a great time to buy your first home.  Prices are good and interest rates are still low.  There are many programs out there today to help the first time purchaser (Note:  Even if you have owned a home before you can still qualify as a first time homebuyer in many cases as long as it has been more than 3 years since you owned a house.)

Finding A Forever Home - Adopt Orange County New York Outreach

I have been reading about an effort by Orange County Department of Social Services to help place older children and teens in adoptive homes. The new website at Adopt Orange County New York displays the photos and stories of young people who are available for adoption. They  had an exhibit at The Galleria at Crystal Run in Middletown this weekend that featured the photos of 32 children who have been freed for adoption after being in the foster care system.  Such displays in 2005 and 2006 and was able to place 40% of the children featured into permanent homes.   They also raised awareness for the need for foster care homes and found quite a few new foster care families through the effort.  

What a great opportunity for a couple who might be wishing to share their home and hearts with a child but not able to take on the care of an infant or young child.  I urge my Orange County NY readers to consider this opportunity for yourselves. Spend some time at the website and give them a call.  What greater gift for the holiday season than to offer a place in your family to a child who is looking for a place to call their own.
