I'm always amazed at the hardiness of the northern residents of the U.S. and Canada and their ceaseless talent of finding ways to have fun on a cold winter day.
In temporate climates like the DC area, many tend to "hunker in" on our colder days.
These directories will surely provide some helpful info for many.
Paddy,
The Sunday Brunch at West Point sounds like the thing to do! Habe a great day!
Mike in Tucson
Well we can't hibernate Lenn. Your cold days are much fewer than ours. These weekend posts do get a lot of notice and people use them. I often get calls requesting information on one event or another and make connections that lead to future business.
Mike I have never gone to the brunch but I went to a leadership conference at the hotel and had a wonderful luncheon while looking out at the Hudson River. The Thayer Hotel is awesome. Click on the link above to see the website,
Paddy - great line up for today - I don't think that I would be able to choose from everything there is to do. Congrats on the feature - that's awesome that they started featuring Things To Do posts - whoda thunk it!
It was a welcome surprise to me Leesa. Our local posts are great for google ranking and are a great help to the people in our areas.
Paddy,
These "Things to Do" posts are a great way to show your knowledge & interest in an area. It sure makes you the area expert for many who see them. Being new here, it's helpful to see and learn from people like you. I am hoping to come up with similar information for my area.
Thanks, Bruce
Good luck Once you set up the format it is easy to update every week. Make sure you link to the websites if they are available. Have a great Sunday Bruce
Great post, Paddy. My outside blog (the oh-so-clevelry-named Jan's Blog) is all about what's happening in my resort community, plus stories about local people and news. I think some of my co-workers initially wondered who the heck would read it. Lo and behold, several years after starting the blog, it has become the second most viewed page on our real estate website (after the home page). Like Bruce said, it helps to show our expertise in our market, and it gives people an incentive to return frequently to our website. Who knows, they might be looking for something to do tomorrow and accidentally discover a new listing that strikes their fancy!
Thanks for sharing,
Jan

Paddy ! Now THIS is how a 'Local Calendar of Events' should be presented !!! Well done :o)
Paddy,
These have always been one of my favorite localism posts! I am sooooo glad to see more and more of the localism posts featured! Congrats!!!!!!
Paddy, I am not a cold weather person but you make winter sound like a wonderland.
Paddy, What a wonderful line up of events. I don't know why the Thayer Hotel sounds so familiar to me, I wonder if I've been there....Great Localism post and congratulations to you!
Paddy as usual a great line up. Carole was asking about the Thayer Hotel. Located by West Point very nice hotel. I once worked on there telecom system and stayed overnight.
Thanks Sheldon. Maybe you can come up and enjoy Orange County soon!
Thank you Lori. I know you read this every weekend.
If you have to live in it Joe you have to get outside sometime.
Carole this is the hotel at West Point. It is beautiful there. I had the opportunity to spend a day there when I was in the Leadership Orange program.
They do don't they Trisha
That is so cool Jennifer. I wanted to say once again what a pleasure it was to meet you at RainCamp.
Hey Paddy! This is why up state NY, New Paltz and the mountain areas, they are all so great...pretty much anytime of the year. I love snow tubing...so much fun! Thanks for sharing these fun events :)
Paddy,
Nice!
The Warwick Winery is great! What about the little ice cream shop on the top of the mountain?! ...Ok, it's a bit chilly for that.
Great post, mechanically speaking, as well!
All the best!

HI Paddy! You already KNOW I love these lists but, I'm SO happy that you were featured with this--I hope everyone takes a page out of your book and does these for their areas too!
Have a wonderful week and CONGRATS on that little gold star!
What a great list Paddy! Thereis a lot to do, even outside.
We are having a mix of sleet and rain here. Snow is mostly gone. Your location - slightly north and west seems to make for a more wintery rather than rainy weather. But I like winter sports. I also do a lot of hiking in my Yak trax. Love the list - all sorts of activities out there!!!
Paddy - well laid out an presented and nice positive feed back ... it's aleways nice to know your readership approves of what you do.
Thanks for the comment Laura. Hope to see you up here in the warmer weather.
Thanks Brian. Warwick is a nice village. It really is not ice cream time but I could be convinced, lol
Thank you Debe That means a lot from you.
There is a lot Wayne. It is a good area for get aways or to live.
It was snowing and sleeting earlier. Now it seems to be stopped. Later we are due to get some accumulation.
Thank you Kathy.
I always loved this series you do.
What a great list of things to do in your area. Here, we get a little rain, and we all run inside.
I have no earthly idea why this is a featured post, but congrats on that! Weather sure is a crazy thing!
Thanks Steve
Well most of the time I do too Christine.
Aaron I have to let you know that I was surprised this was featured but I do this service every weekend and have gotten many contacts and leads from it. If you don't understand the power of Localism then you are missing a huge value of the Rain. I looked at your blog and have to say you need to tone back the advertising and focus on the content. Good luck and thanks for the complement anyway
Paddy, Congrats on the feature. Lots of good suggestions for things to do in the area. Unfortunately, there was too much football to watch for me to take advantage.
Well at least you had fun James.
I love Pine Island and used to play golf at a small course there when I lived in West Milford (next to Greenwood Lake)
