We Are About To Get Hit Again. Are You Ready For The Snow?

Well here it comes again New York.  They are predicting a Heavy Snowlot of snow for tomorrow afternoon and night.  The snow is going to be wet snow which is soggy and heavy.  We know what soggy heavy snow can do don't we?

Be careful when shoveling

This type of snow will be hard to move and shoveling will take a lot out of you.  Be sure to use common sense and find someone to help you if it is too much for you.

Expect that we may have power outages throughout the area so get prepared.

Find your flashlights, I know that the kids have been playing with them so you may need to dig in the toy box and replace those batteries.

Gather some candles and matches.  Remember never leave a candle burning unattended or in a room alone with a small child.

Fill some jugs or pails with water especially if your house gets water from a well.  The well can't pump up water without electricity.  If you have water at least you can flush the toilets, give pets water, and wash up.

Watch the snow build up on roofs especially flat roofs.

This is the type of snow that can cause a cave in so keep an eye on your roof and call someone to clear it if it gets too deep.

Don't drive if you don't have to.

If it is not necessary to go out then don't.  If you think about it most things can wait until the roads are cleared.

I leave you with this thought:

Snowflakes are kisses from heaven. ~Author Unknown
If this is true then heaven should know I have been kissed enough
this year already thank you very much.

Stay Warm and Stay Safe.

Good Luck, here in south central PA we only have  a call for 4-6" and that beats the tar out of our last two 2 footers.

Yeah bring it on. However, you will get more than we will this time. I used to live up in your direction in West Milford NJ next to Greenwood Lake and we used to get absolutely destroyed due to the elevation. No, living near the beach we rarely get a lot of snow. This year has been very unique.

Paddy,

We had two winters just like that....it is gets old fast!  Good advice.  One I might add is to keep the snow clear around your gas meter....the gas meter has a vent that needs to vent...a year or so ago I had a whole bunch of snow come off the roof and bury it.   When I was moving snow around out there I heard a hiss and thought we had a gas leak.  Needless to say it caused quite a commotion....

Paddy, I heard the forecast and am not at ALL happy about it.  I keep predicting an early spring because I can't keep thinking this will last :)

Paddy -- My arms are about to fall off.   We had snow slush today and it was NOT fun!  I am so ready for spring!

Enough with the snow already and bring on spring.  I too, keep thinking this can't last and then along comes another storm.

Be careful there and stay warm and dry -- not much you can do about the snow -

Paddy, if it is any consolation, we had the "S" word in the forecast. Thankfully, all we got was flurries...

Good for you Jay.  We escaped a few this winter but it looks like we will pay this time.

I know that the winter has been hard on the beach dwellers of the East Coast Eric.  We have actually had it easier than you all.

Good thought Lori. Most areas here do not have the option of natural gas but some of the larger towns and cities do.  That must have been a scare.

It just keeps coming Carole.  I was done with this a while back it just won't get the hint

Oh Joan That is the worst to clear away

I know Leah.  Stay warm

Except complain a bit right Bob and Carolyn?

Good for you Michael.  Have a great day
