Hudson Valley Happenings Blog : A Visit To Charleston SC With The Pizappi Family

A Visit To Charleston SC With The Pizappi Family

I love Charleston SC.  It is one of the most beautiful cities in the country in my opinion.
We usually try to make a trip to Charleston at least once during our South Carolina vacation breaks.
We often visit the City Market which has been operating  since the late 1700's.

Entrance to Market
Market Hall was built in 1841 and now houses a Confederate Museum.  The market itself is set up with covered booths that sell candy and treats, clothing and jewelery, handbags, and those famous low country baskets that you can see being woven right there.

On this trip we ate lunch at the Southend Brewery and Smokehouse located on East Bay St.

Girls at Lunch

All the tables have white paper and crayons are available.  We had fun with them!

View from 3rd Floor

Here's the view from the third floor of the Southend Brewery.

Fasmily on Battery

We took the trolley bus down to the Battery which has so many beautiful houses.

Gate and front doorGate and Garden

The iron work in Charleston is beautiful as are the gardens.

Horse Tour

Many tourists take tours in carriages.  We have not done that yet but maybe someday.
All in all it was a great day in Charleston.  I hope you enjoyed this brief tour with the Pizappis.

I love Charleston!   I consider myself an adopted son since I went to school there and lived there for about 9 years.  I love to visit I just do not want to live in the heat and humidity anymore.

Thanks for the comment Larry. It does get humid for sure.  I think I might be able to stand it though.  It is so beautiful.

I love Charleston, especially the way it smells in the spring.  We went there for our honeymoon, and I hope to bring the kids sometime. :)

Paddy - We are having a duplicate vacation.  Yesterday we ate the same brewery and also enjoyed the crayons, we walked along battery and were in awe with the beauty of the homes.  We are actually staying at a hotel across from waterfront park for another few days.  So far we are having a wonderful time in Charleston.

hi Stacey-Ann That is strange with all the places to eat down there you would be there a week after us.  Did you go to the aquarium yet? It is great for kids.

Paddy, I've just flipped through several of your blogs taking us on a tour with your family.  It looks like you were having a good time.  I particulary liked the pictures in this one.  Thanks for sharing with everyone.

Hi Paddy, we aren't here with the kids - just us grown-ups this time.  We've been touring lots of the houses.

Very cool Stacey-Ann.  I have to think of a great place for my anniversary next spring I want to surprise my husband with a getaway.

I love Charleston too! My brother went to school there and I have an aunt that used to live there so we visited quite often. I haven't been to Charleston in quite some time which is a shame since I only live about 1 1/2 hrs away! Most of our vacationing now is spent on Hilton Head Island.

I love Charleston, SC!  We are always there in Nov and we did the tourist thingy, out on a cruise on the River as well as the donkey ride Downtown!  LOVE IT.... it's going to be the place when we retire!!!  It was hubby's first port of call during his active military days. :)

Hi Laura,

I hear Hlton Island is nice but I haven't been yet.  You should take a weekend in Charlestong if you are that close - We have a house near Manning SC on Lake Marion.

CT - We will be back this November too and December.  We love it.

Paddy, I would suggest taking the carriage ride when you come back in the fall...you can learn so much about the history of Charleston by taking it!

Posted by Jeremy Blanton (210 Consulting~ Social Media Advisors) over 2 years ago

We will take that tour in November when we go back.  Thanks Jeremy

How far do you want to go for your anniversary trip?  I'm from Jamaica.  Negril is awesome.

Posted by Dr. Stacey-Ann Baugh (EOP Real Estate, LLC) over 2 years ago

Hi Stacey-Ann.  I have been to Jamaica and love it but my husband is not a fan of flying so I need to stay on the ground I think.
