Civil War Reeacting Weekend Liberty NY 2008 - Part 2 The Camp Life

No trip to a Civil War Reenacting Weekend would be complete without viewing the camp life.  This is the part of the hobby that I enjoy most.

Our weekend at Liberty was memorable and fun. We had some severe thunderstorms that caused a bit of havoc on the camps and cut down on the amount of participants and public attendance but we had a great time in spite of it.  I hope you will enjoy the views of Camp Life and realize that I am not crazy after all for going out to live for a weekend in a tent that has no floor, without electricity, or many modern day conveniences.  We had several guests in camp this weekend and one of them remarked at the silence of a world without radios blaring but believe me our camp rang with laughter and fun instead.

As you see we had a great weekend in spite of the rain.  I hope that you will become interested in going out to see a Civil War reenactment in your area. Now I have to go start cleaning up for our weekend of fun.

Thanks Becky, BTW one of our members has a high functioning autistic son who comes to events.  He has grown up with it and he does just fine.  She is involved in an autism walk up in Sullivan County in September.

Neat post Paddy. I think that these types of events are so fun and educational for the 'actors' as well as the audience...

Paddy- This is so much fun! Your kids must love it- the smiles certainly reveal that. So where is the picture of Paddy?

Kudos to you all for reliving this time in history.. even through the storm- and that was some storm. I thought about you out there in it. We had terrential downpours- I was worried that your camp would get washed out. I am glad you made it home safe and sound- with lots of great pictures to share- Thank you!

Hi Barbara One of the downpours occured just as we were cooking dinner.  As soon as we were ready to eat it stopped  It figures.  I posted a picture from my daughter's camera on the other blog Part 1 comments but I will add it here for you.

Paddy, this is the first chance I've had to come and check out how the Reenactment went.  It looks like it was fun....and you got to experience what life was really like back then.  I didn't even think about the camping and staying in tents part or the getting rained on part.  Well, I"m off to read part 1.  Then I've got to get to work.  lol    Thanks for taking the time to share these pictures with everyone.
