Hey Paddy ... I agree, especially in our area ... lots of surprises in the rain.  I had clients who loved to tour on rainy days not only for the reasons you mentioned but because if they liked the house in the rain, they would love it in the sunshine :)

Marie - That is funny but that's true - if they like it in the rain then how much more in the sunchine. 

sounds strange here in AZ, however, when we do have rain, people actually go house hunting versus enjoying the outdoors

I have not tried this yet accept for a few open houses I did in the rain. It would be good to know if there are any leaks in the home.

Paddy, I wish it would rain here!  It is so hot and dry and it smells like fire!  You are right, the time to buy is great.  Why wait for the upswing when you have to fight with all the other buyers that are all going for the same property!?

Paddy- I agree. We don't get rain often as we should. It is nice to know what will happen when it does though.

Paddy you gave some good reasons for house hunting in the rain, I personally don't like it because some clients don't want to remove their shoes and don't want to fuss with a shoe cover.

Paddy, It may be a great day to do house hunting, but a bad day to do house inspecting... Had 2 yesterday. Difficult to do a great job while hunkered under an umbrella...

Morning Paddy,

We had an overcast day with some rain yesterday and it looks like more of the same for today. Here in Paradise, that is an unusual happening.

Homes take on an entirely different look on rainy days. On a sunny day, a home vibrates with warmth. On rainy or gray cloudy, snow filled days the bare home stands to be evaluated with none of the positive distractions of nature to get in the way.

Hello Paddy, it is good for looking - not the best for an open house though.  Seems people won't venture out in the rain as much as they do on a sunny day.

There's no better way to reveal the secrets of a house than when it's raining outside. Even an inspector might not discover a small leak if it's sunny outside at the time of inspection.

Interesting perspective Paddy. We don't have basements and people (sellers) pefer not to have showings when it's raining sideways outside. I can certainly see your wanting to see the results from the rain though. Great attitude and thought! :)

Thanks for the comments all.  The tour went well and I have an offer in from it.  Keep you fingers crossed.  BTW, when I tour in the rain I do take shoes off at the door.

Paddy - You know these are good points.  Better to have our buyers see all the potential problems in a house and you are so right.  They usually show up during the rainy season. 

I like selling houses in inclement weather because it gives me an excuse not to wear high heeled shoes. :)

Nice perspective in your post. I know that problems show up when there is rain, but I've never thought to point out that positive for prospective buyers.

Jennifer - I'm with Paddy - I like that too - thankfully I live in an area where you actually look weird if you where heels.  I feel for you though.

Paddy - Awe but that's what makes it such a special place - I'd move to NY in a heartbeat, if I could just convince my husband to go back to the snow.  That's a tough one.

I am not a big fan of the White Stuff Jessica.  It is a necessary evil if you live here.  Some of my freinds love it though.  It takes all kinds to make the world go round
