Hudson Valley Happenings Blog : "Twilight" the movie, is awesome!

"Twilight" the movie, is awesome!

I went to see "Twilight" last night at 10:45 PM. I don't think I ever went to a movie that late even in my wilder younger days.  The things you will do for your children.  Nicole performed in a talent show at school  last night, she did great BTW(I will post on that performance later), and has a party tonight. She just HAD to see Twilight this weekend, both my girls have been anticipating the release of the movie for months. Soooo I picked up tickets on Thursday for the late show and was glad that I had.  It was a sellout.

The movie was really good.  It stayed true to the book except for a few minor variations.  For those who have not read this series yet you really should.  The books are the kind you can't put down and find yourself sneaking off to read when you should be doing something else. The story is a basically a teenage love story but the male lead character is a vampire which creates some interesting twists on the boy meets girl and they fall in love theme.

I would recommend this movie to all the ladies and think that many of you guys might like it too (even if you are only going because she is making you go).

Have a great Saturday whatever you do!

I saw it last night as well.  It was pretty good - even my 8 year really liked it!

It was great Tim. Thanks for stopping by

I think that says a lot because your average 8 year old (not that your son is average by any means Leesa) would not get into most romance stories.

Hi Paddy,

Gosh, but you are a good Mom! Glad the performance went well and that you and the girls were able to see and enjoy the movie.

Paddy, I too am too far behind the times in going out to the movies. Kinda was an old memaw yesterday and stayed in and watched some videos at home... I'll have to watch the trailer and see what it is about...

Hi Paddy - my friend Nicole was telling me about the books just a few weeks ago - she says it is one of the best series she has ever read.   Guess it wasn't hard to stay awake for the late show!        Have a good night :)

Paddy - it wasn't on my list of movies to see but, since your review, I might have to change the list.

On Wednesday we are going to Forks, WA (sp).  My daughter and grandkids went and saw the movie in anticipation of the visit to the actual places from the book.  I never read the book, but will be doing the Tourist thing :)

Hi Paddy!  I'm glad you liked the movie.  Can you tell me if this is a teen book or an adult book that teens like?  I have it on my "to read" books on goodreads.com, but my teenager said it was a teen book.

Well Susan I think it is a good book for adults that teens enjoy too.  There are some intimate scenes in the later books that may be considered rated at least PG-13 but it is one of those stories that captures you and makes you want to read more.  Let me know if you do decide to read them.

I picked up the book because it had my 16 year old daughter so enthralled...now I am hooked, too!  My 18 year old (a Harry Potter devotee) refuses to read the book or see the movie on principal, LOL!  Must be nice to have such simple principals, except I am not sure what   principal she is espousing !?  Personally, I think it is just being ornery about something her sister loves.

Hi Paddy,

I LOVED the Twilight book series and I was pleased with how they portrayed the first book in the movie. Stephenie Meyer is an awesome author and has a great way with words...her books are so hard to put down. I'm anxiously awaiting the second movie!

Have a great day!

Paddy!

I wondered how this would be reviewed. The books are great but usually the movie falls short. I may just have to check it out! Thanks for the review.
